Default What's your pve mesmer running?

When i play guild wars, i like to stick to primarially one class. Mesmer has been my passion for going on 6 years now(with a 2-3 year break from gw altogether). They've gotten alot of buffs for PvE, namely the buff to fast casting. I was wondering what everyone runs with thier mesmers, 9 times out of 10 im running with 7 heroes....usually slightly modded discordway with 2 rits and 2 mesmer heroes(panic and inept)

I recently restarted my mesmer completely to give myself something to do. So my title based skills arent as high as they should be. Beat NF, going to start on EotN soon. Right now i run this

Auspicius Incantation
Arcane Echo
Energy Surge
Unnatural Signet
Mistrust
Wastrells Demise
Chaos Storm
Optional(usually res or capsig)

This has served me well through all the areas i've been through, ive thought about running CoP in the optional slot, just requires timing with mistrust/wastrells demise(though the panic mesmer helps) though i would like some variety from time to time so i was wondering what everyone else runs in PvE, ive toyed with MoR+Necrosis spammers, and clumsiness/wandering eye illusion builds, so far the above esurge has been the most effective but again, id like a bit of variety

Evas for balling before starting spikes/mobcontrol. Cry of Pain's gotta be on the bar. Most of the time I'm the panic and leave esurge for heroes. With your high energy (incantation) you could run Deep Freeze.

I normally stick to Signet of Spirits when i'm using a mesmer and i don' have a rit hero/merc hero. Or i will run assassins promise. Only time i run real mesmer bars are if i'm doing elite areas, missions/ other pve stuff with real people but when i'm by myself i just give myself options and don't stick to just 1's primary skills only

I'm sure I'm going to earn undying hate for suggesting this, but given how many times I've seen well, EVERYONE, use SoS who is not a rit; maybe they should switch it's duration to Spawning power while keeping damage linked to channelling.

It's a bit odd, but it seems like anyone who runs a caster brings it, heck even non-casters are bringing it.

My favorite for Mesmer, http://www.gwpvx.com/Special:PvXDeco...Submit+Qu ery. Good shutdown capability and does decent damage.

If not this then I ussually just go with the generic AP/EVAS spam.

FD, as above. AS long as there's not huge hex removal (but this would be a issue of lots of mes builds) or condition removal(or immunity, but you can swap cond dealing skills) Daze is gonna rock. Plus adding every cond you take (cripple, CA, DW, bleed, whatever) in huge AoE.

On my mesmer I usually use Panic or Keystone Signet. Haven't really tried anything in the illusion line. I enjoy the class and will probably never resort to AP caller or SpiritSpam when they have nice strong elites for themselves.

I also choose Wastrel's Worry over Demise, since you only have to wait 3 seconds for it to spike but only 1 1/2 seconds if its on a boss. Whereas Wastrel's Demise would just stop at half damage after 2 1/2 seconds on a boss.

Hmm . . . I probably would use Enchanter's Conundrum, it is a good alternative for Area wide damage (AoE) and also a good snaring for those tough bosses in Nightfalls (monks !)

[Elite] Enchanter's Conundrum
[Offence] Shame
[Offence] Cry of Frustration
[Energy Management] Ether Lord
[Interrupt] Power Drain
[Optional]
[Optional]
[Optional]

My main Mesmer uses Keystone, just cause well, it is awesome. By far my favorite build and not many enemies that shut down signets. My other Mesmer runs an Illusion build with Shared Burden and then Clumsiness, Wandering Eye, and Signet of Clumsiness. Does some pretty nice AoE damage and snares well.

Generally I prefer to take the lazy route on my mesmer and go with either panic or ineptitude.

If you actually want to be active in playing the game I'd reccomend PI:
OQBCAswUI0NlMgNopDAAAAAA

With max dom it's a nifty 350+ damage spike that isn't super energy intensive (as long as you land PI). Plus, you have 3 skills to toy around with for utility. I run this in HM with a hero that has RoJ- If you wait until mobs bunch up from patrolling and targed the eles/necros when you initially agro them, most of the mob is under 40% health before it can actually do anything to your group.

It's not as high of a damage dealer as say Ineptitude, but I love seeing all the little numbers light up on my screen.

My mesmer spends its time with human grouping, so its builds are a standard Fevered Dreams or Psychic Instability Instability with a ton of additional rupts build. If for whatever reason I'm with heroes, it's AP spam. I found myself using Mandragor in a Can against all the Expel Hexes spam today during the ZB and with all the tight areas.

I'm not sure how or why you use Ether Lord.

Usually, I run a PsyInstability or Ineptitude build. I occasionally run an FD build, depending on area I will be in as well as party composition. Just recently, I started messing around with Panic, but seldom use it.

If I had to pick a favorite it would be PsyInstab. I enjoy the challenge of landing interrupts over the spamming of hexes.

My Mesmer is one of my favourite characters over the years and has used many different build types. These days I'm running a sort of a mixed-bag Panic/e-denial build:

Cry of Frustration
Panic
Pain Inverter
Technobabble
Ether Nightmare
Energy Tap
Energy Burn
Rez Chant (optional)

I use a high energy staff (+5e, +5e^30, +30h) with a higher energy (+15/-1, +15/-1) wand and focus set for emergencies.
FC 8+1, Dom 12+1, Insp 10+1+2

*Skills and specifications subject to change without notice or reason.

When your low on energy and facing caster foes, you'd lose your remaining energy (say 3 E) and than have a solid +3 E regeneration.

Quote:
Each pip of Energy regeneration generates 1 Energy every 3 seconds. All characters have a base Energy regeneration of 2, that may be modified by each profession's armor as described above
So if you have a mesmer, which already has +4 pips of energy, you would get : 1*(4+3) so 7 energy per three seconds, It's not awesome, but you can steal energy from an enemy at the same time ( like a caster boss).

You shouldn't face that situation first of all.
Mesmers eats loads of energy, but there's all e-management you can need(drain delus,Pdrain, WNWN).

P.S:Also, with 7 heroes, you'd want to add a Bip (or a BR) somewhere when using casters: the first one is particularly awesome when you're hungry for blue points.

I've been using this for vanquishing:

- Images of Remorse
- Fragility
- Shared Burden
- Accumulated Pain
- Wandering Eye
- Arcane Conundrum
- Cry of Pain
- Necrosis

That's right... no Inspiration Magic used at all.

I've been struggling to find a build that I can run that has a higher damage output than this:

[ELITE] Psychic Instability
Wastrel's Worry
Wastrel's Demise
Cry of Pain
Guilt
Mistrust
Shame
Rebirth/CapSig

I'm not saying it's the best thing ever, just that I've found it does far more damage than Inept (which is ok but the range is too small, the energy cost too high and the recharge too slow), Panic (only really worth it in groups of 5+, making it amazing for high end PvE but a little useless for VQ etc), ESurge (almost a joke for PvE - great for PvP, but the single target damage is too low and the aoe damage is frustratingly small).

Fevered Dreams has come a close second as the Daze is at least as useful as the 4s KD of PI, but I tend to find that by the time I've unloaded FD and Frag, Acc Pain for Deep Wound fun... the mobs tend to be dead! I then have to set up the deal all over again on a new foe. In reality this means I target something secondary so I have chance to spread all my conditions, but that then hurts my team's ability to spike healers, etc.

By all means I'm *desperate* to find another build as I'm bored to death of this one, but until then I'll stick with this. I should add, in case it isn't obvious, that e-management is dependent on the presence of enemy casters and that small mobs of melee-only attackers are annoying for this build, but as most come with casters it's less often a problem.

Oh, and swapping Cry of Pain for Cry of Frustration gives me a semi-decent PvP build too

KInda lame and mainstream now but...Or some variation, with a dom spec..

AP
Arcane acho
Auspicious incantation/Ether sig
Ebon vanguard sin
Cry of pain
finish him
Chaos storm
mindwrack/fragility

Been running an AP mes bar since the first week of factions when i first capped AP tho obviously its evolved and become pretty common place! Tho ive been running an AP bar with a monk too since the same time... AP is a big equaliser!

OR a nice little Fevered dreams setup with some cond spams for shutdown.. but yeah.

Anti-physical:
12+1+3 Illusion, 12+1 FC, Arcane Conumdrum, Ineptitude, Clumsiness, Wandering Eye, Signet of Clumsiness, 3 more to suit area.
Very strong indeed on its day.

Fragility Spiker with 7H also inflicting many conditions:
12+1+3 Illusion, 10+1 FC, 8 Blood Magic. Fevered Dreams, Fragility, YMLAD, Oppressive Gaze, Barbed Signet, Arcane Conundrum, Accumulated Pain, Signet of Corruption.
Damage seems OK rather then great, the conditions are shutdown of a sort.

Signet City:
Keystone Signet, Tryptophan Signet, Signet of Weariness, Unnatural Signet, Signet of Clumsiness, Signet of Humility, Symbolic Celerity, Mantra of Inscriptions.
It hasn't worked that well for me, though I can believe the people who say it would work a lot better with ~4 heroes running similar. But I bought another set of armour for Artificer's Insigniae, so I'm going to damn well wear it.

I used to run flavours of Wastrel's Panic in PUGs when requested, but I don't PUG much since 7H. With heroes I only use it for big caster heavy groups who ball up (e.g Afflicted). I often put 8 points in Illusion and use Arcane Conundrum for Energy instead of the usual Inspiration stuff, since it helps Panic.

AP/EVAS looks very good but I don't run it, because I already use AP a lot on my Ele and Necro and I made the Mesmer for a change.
